JOY M. GÄNDER, CPCU, ARM – PRINCIPAL
Joy provides independent risk management and employee benefits consulting services to public-sector, corporates, not-for-profits, and association clients. With over 30 years of experience, her time is devoted to strategic planning for property and casualty insurance programs, acting as an on-demand risk manager, conducting risk management analyses, evaluating and marketing insurance programs, reviewing and consulting on lawsuits, evaluating agents/broker service arrangements, providing counsel on innumerable insurance policies and related documents, and making presentations.
Joy is a member of the Society of Risk Management Consultants, served as President, and is serving a third term on its Board of Directors. She is also a member and former President of the Dairyland Chapter of the Society of CPCU. Joy received her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations in 1989 and 1994, respectively. She is a graduate of UW-Madison with a BBA in Risk Management and Marketing.
Joy joined the UW-Madison School of Business as adjunct faculty for the course, “Property Risk Management 610,” during 2002, 2005, and again for the 2006 fall semester. She is also a guest lecturer for the UW-Madison School of Medicine Physiology 675 Masters of Science course, “Business of Biotechnology Fundamentals,” and for Edgewood College’s Principles of Insurance – Business 350/771 course.
JANET M. TOPPER – RISK ANALYST
Janet has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. She provides Risk Analyst services to clients in the public and private sectors, which include, but are not limited to analyzing insurance coverages, developing property and casualty insurance bid specifications, drafting insurance policy summaries, evaluating loss data on a per unit of exposure basis, completing insurance coverage applications, assessing insurance company financial strength and stability, and Wisconsin OCI insurance policy form filing compliance.
She assists with client risk management programs, including comprehensive risk management audits, research of multi-state insurance statutes/regulations and applicable case law, risk identification, marketing of property and casualty and employee benefits programs – including drafting initial data requests and Request for Proposal/Qualification documents, preparing underwriting exhibits based on client exposure data and loss run history, conducting market assignment process, communicating with agents/brokers, evaluating submissions and drafting proposal comparisons.
Janet is a graduate of UW-Madison with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance. Her background includes being a project assistant to the president of a risk management and insurance consulting firm, operations/office manager for a local manufacturing company, and an executive assistant to a bank CEO, which included providing support for the bank’s risk management program and to its BODs. She has also been a personal lines insurance agent.
